So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
12.1 PSTN SYSTEMS AND CLOCKS
PSTN systems and central offices maintain various levels of a stratum (plural is strata) clock. Depending on the clock precision, stratum suffix numbers 1, 2, 3, and 4 are included [URL (Symmetricom)]. A summary on strata clocks is listed in Table 12.1. Many VoIP boxes located at customer premises may not derive synchronization from PSTN, and it is essential to maintain required stand-alone clock stability within the VoIP system.
