CHAPTER 12Configuring Windows 10 Hyper-V
In the previous chapter, you enabled Hyper-V as a feature on Windows 10. In this chapter, you learn how to configure the Hyper-V environment and install an operating system as a guest on a Windows 10 Hyper-V host.
To follow along in this chapter, you must first perform the tasks in Chapter 11 to ensure your environment is ready to be configured.
Running Hyper-V
Once Hyper-V is enabled on your host computer, you must start the Hyper-V manager to connect to the host server, which is the computer on which you want to run the guest virtual machines (VMs). You can choose to set up the VMs on your local computer (which this chapter shows how to do), or connect to a networked shared computer to set up a VM.
To start Hyper-V Manager, follow these steps:
- Type Hyper-V in the Cortana search field and press Enter.
- Select Hyper-V Manager from the Best Match list (see Figure 12.1). The Hyper-V Manager window appears.
