Chapter 12. Custom Animations

Animations are some of the best things that you can add to your application and at the same time some of the worst. Tastefully placed animations can provide visual cues to the user that something meaningful is taking place within the application and can even increase the density of information being conveyed without consuming additional screen real estate. The flip side, of course, is that animations can be used abusively. Animations that take too long, are obtrusive, or otherwise prevent the user from accomplishing his goals can positively ruin an otherwise fantastic application. ...
