1966. She earned a bachelor
of art in industrial, interior and
craft design from Musashino
Art University, Tokyo. While
at University, she started
the Tokyo Kosaku Club, that
lasted from 1986 to 2001.
SMO is the solo project that
illustrator Sayuri Maeda
started in 2001. SMO stands
for “Sayuri Maeda Office.”
Her activity ranges from
covers to advertisements,
books, magazines and
websites. The style of her
work is usually colorful with
an inorganic touch. However,
it sometimes expands to a
broader variety of tastes.
