As we finish writing this book, the United States and other countries around the world are in a deep recession. Unfortunately, we’ve seen its effects on the learning and development community. Unique situations have occurred, with companies such as Citigroup announcing early in the recession that they were trimming their expenses and eliminating all internal and external training as well as other unnecessary expenses.
