¿Qué es un sistema heredado? Es un software antiguo muy difícil de mantener, ampliar y mejorar. Por otra parte, también es un sistema que funciona y está al servicio de la empresa; de lo contrario, no habría sobrevivido.

Quizá, cuando se creó por primera vez, un sistema heredado tenía un diseño excelente, un diseño tan bueno que la gente empezó a decir: "Vale, quizá podamos utilizarlo también para esto, y esto, y esto". Se sobrecarga de deuda técnica, pero sigue funcionando. Estos sistemas pueden ser asombrosamente resistentes.

Aun así, los desarrolladores odian trabajar en sistemas heredados. Puede parecer que hay más deuda técnica de la que nadie podría pagar. Quizá deberíamos declararnos en quiebra y seguir adelante. Mucho más fácil.
