The Paradox of Databases

Over the years, Microsoft Access has had a myriad of well-deserved accolades from IT professionals and users alike. However, one criticism has hung like an albatross around the neck of Access since its launch in 1992. People were reluctant to take the plunge and move from the limited database capabilities of Excel to more robust and extensive database functionality of Access because of the learning curve associated with such a move. One can only speculate whether Access would have enjoyed the same kind of success without so many user-friendly updates through the years. Nevertheless, although people finally seem to be awakening to the power of Access, some people are still not convinced.
