There are many ways to categorize enterprise analytics. In this chapter, we describe different types of primary demand for analytics; furthermore, we examine how this demand affects organization choices of analytic methods and tooling (see Exhibit 6.1). A key premise of this chapter is that there is no single set of methods and tooling that meets every need; consequently, the key question that must drive analytic decision making at all levels is: What are we going to do with the results?
