Pixels and image files

So, an RGB value indicates a specific color, but how do we connect this to a computer image? If we were to view an image on our computer and try to zoom in as much as we can, we would observe that as we zoom in deeper and deeper, the image will start breaking apart into increasingly discernible colored squares—these squares are called pixels, which are the smallest units of color on a computer display or in a digital image:
