Chapter 3. Key Themes
This chapter explains three key themes that form the basis for arguments in the rest of this book. All the organization design recommendations made in subsequent chapters can be traced to one or more of these themes. Here’s a short summary:
• Govern for value over predictability: Software development is a design process rather than a production process. This has several implications for how we go about managing it. In particular, it is futile to chase predictability and important to chase value. More detail is provided in Section 3.1.
