Abstract:
Network systems are special-purpose embedded computing systems used in application domains that require low power consumption. Examples of network systems with limited power consumption range from sensor network subsystems and mobile phones to high-performance routers in data centers with limited cooling capacity. This chapter discusses low power design in the context of two specific network system components: Internet Protocol (IP) lookup engines and network processors.
