Abstract
In this period of nanotechnology, various engineered nanomaterials have been manufactured by a greener technique. Green nanomaterials synthesis has evolved as an eco-friendly method of producing nanomaterials with a wide range of physical, chemical, and biological properties. It has emerged as a viable alternative, offering an eco-friendly, economical, and energy-efficient method for producing a wide spectrum of nanomaterials. Algae are one of the most prevalent autotrophic biological units, accounting for almost half of all photosynthesis worldwide. Algae acts as a living cell factory for the efficient synthesis of nanomaterials because of the presence of numerous reducing, capping, and stabilizing substances in the algal extract that could be employed to transform metal ions to nanoforms such as carbohydrates, phenolics, polypeptides, alkaloids, and terpenoids. Additionally, these nanomaterials offer a wide range of applications in the realms of medicine, reaction catalysis, and various other fields. The goal of this chapter is to provide a brief overview of the variety of algal strains used in this booming field and factors affecting along with the disparate nanocomposites synthesized. ...
