Abstract
The purpose of a smart healthcare system is to provide remote services at any time without compromising its security and privacy. Blockchain technology provides encryption and cryptographic-based services in a decentralized environment. Blockchain facilitates handling of patient’s data storage and access, digital health wallet, and medical insurances without the need of third-party intermediaries. This study suggests using blockchain in various health-related fields. The study also emphasizes how blockchain can be used in conjunction with other enabling technologies like big data, AI, IoT, and machine learning to raise the caliber of smart healthcare and thus improve security and privacy services.

24.1 Introduction
Healthcare is an important segment of human life. Due to its heterogeneous nature, it is important to maintain its security and privacy effectively. The cryptographic nature of blockchain provides techniques through which it is impossible to hack the sensitive health data. Traditional healthcare systems have problems in sharing data due to their centralization. The decentralized nature of a blockchain helps in providing access control, integrity, consistency, security, and privacy. Blockchain ...
