244 Building Earth Observation Cameras
The detector is a 12 K linear CCD with 7-μm pixel similar to that used in
LISS-4 as discussed in Chapter 6. A band-pass interference lter kept in front
of the CCD decides the spectral region covered. Two CCDs are placed in the
along-track direction, each having its own electronics for redundancy. The
electronics are similar to that of LISS cameras (Chapter6), but tuned to the
Carto2 data requirements. The data is digitized to 10 bits and compressed to
3.2 bits per pixel for transmission. The Cartosat-2 series satellites are agile to
point the optical axis along and across track up to ±26° to provide mu ...
