The resolving power depends on the order number, m, and the number of
lines, N, on the grating (total number of grooves illuminated on the surface
of the grating).
The gratings can be realized to operate in transmission or reection mode.
Plane reection grating helps to reduce the system dimension by suitably
steering the beam, whereas reective grating with power (concave/convex
grating) can be used as a powered component in optical design. Thus, grat-
