When I went on the O’Reilly platform, I was astonished to find all the books there, plus live events and sandboxes so you could play around with the technology.I’ve been on the O’Reilly platform for more than eight years. I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Need for a new deployment paradigm
The highest level of isolation for an application can be achieved by raising a new physical machine or bare metal server. So there is a server with its own operating system running on top of it and managing all system resources. This was regular stuff in legacy applications. But it is not practical for modern applications. Modern applications are massive systems. Some examples of these systems are Amazon, Netflix, and Nike, or even traditional financial banks, such as ING. These systems are hosted on tens of thousands of servers. These kinds of modern applications demand ultra-scalability to serve to their millions of users. For a microservice architecture, it does not make any sense to set up a new server ...
