61. The Tragedy of Time Zones
In the early years of my business, most of our clients were in Los Angeles (Pacific Standard Time). My company was located in Utah (Mountain Standard Time), which carried a one-hour time difference with the bulk of our clients. At the time, most of our team worked a 9:00 A.M. to 6:00 P.M. shift. This meant that our day was ending around 5:00 P.M. in Los Angeles.
Many days included a scramble to meet our deadlines. I remember numerous days where we would click Send on a delivery email at 6:01 P.M. to hit our deadline. The time difference between our location and that of our clients was definitely working in our favor, as 6:01 P.M. was 5:01 P.M. in Hollywood.
