When you’re shooting video, it is important to select the correct white balance, because it can be difficult to correct color casts in postprocessing. It is possible, but forcing colors to dramatically shift will result in a loss of video quality. Though some color correction is always necessary in video production, it’s best to limit such changes.
The good news is that the Live View preview on the back of the camera will give you an idea of the image quality before you begin recording (Figure 9.6). This gives you the chance to adjust your white balance while you are getting ready to record.
