sed

This is one of the oldest and most popular Unix text processing tools. It is a non-interactive stream editor. It is typically used for filtering text, as well as performing text substitution and the non-interactive editing of text files. There are two main ways of invoking the sed command, as follows:

• sed -e command <filename>: Specify editing commands at the command line, operate on the filename specified, and display the output on the Terminal. Here, the -e command option allows us to specify multiple editing commands simultaneously at the command line.
• sed -f scriptfile <filename>: Specify a script file containing sed commands to operate on a specified filename and display the output on the Terminal.
