Frame Relay devices generally depend on the standard Frame Relay Local Management Interface (LMI) protocols to exchange keepalive messages in order to maintain the status of an active connection. This chapter describes the Cisco Frame Relay End-to-End Keepalive feature, which is an alternative keepalive mechanism supported only on Cisco devices.
