Most servers today are either very busy, running at a high level of CPU utilization, or are idle a significant portion of the time, waiting for something to do. As you have learned, when a server becomes very busy, the IT staff may, as shown in FIGURE 8-4, introduce a load-balancing server and then add additional servers, as necessary, to handle the workload.
