This chapter discussed the details of working with menus in Cocoa. The main menu, pop-up menus, pull-down menus, contextual menus, and the dock menu were described. The NSMenu and NSMenuItem classes were explained in depth, and the role of the responder chain in handling menu actions and validation was covered. Creating menus in Interface Builder and programmatically was also explained.
The next chapter explains how to use color with Cocoa. Cocoa provides a standard color selection panel and color well user interface widget. Cocoa also offers the NSColor class and a color list object, which together provide a rich set of functionality for manipulating colors.
