Common prosthetic pieces are usually made form foam latex/hot foam, cold foam, gel-foam, or liquid latex.
• Foam latex/hot foam (a four-part system) is a very flexible, lightweight material that moves wonderfully with the actor’s movements. Foam latex is more complex than other materials and should be considered an advanced technique. It needs certain equipment to complete the process such as positive and negative molds, an electric mixer, a gram scale (a postal scale will work), and an oven.
