This chapter contains a quick reference, and a summarized description, of the types of people and teams that are required for a good data governance program.
Recall that data governance is people-centric and people-driven. In some organizations, data governance is implemented exclusively as a set of expected behaviors through processes and policies, without an investment in tools and systems. This keeps the costs negligible, while getting the work done. Of course, for many organizations, it’s much more than that. The point here is that at a basic level, data governance is achieved by the right people doing the right things at the right time.
The stakeholders discussed in this chapter are essential to data governance. But don’t be alarmed if it seems like a lot.
