Don’t let the fact that digital SLRs are powerful electronic devices loaded with features freak you out too much. So are cars, HDTVs, smartphones, gaming systems, tablets, and laptops. Even refrigerators, washers, dryers, and doorbells have gotten into the act. People have grown used to it. This isn’t 1984, when people couldn’t set the timer on their VCRs.

But, like everything else, you have to communicate with your digital SLR. This chapter walks you through basic options of how to set it up and get going.
