Abstract

Pulsed light technology (PLT) is an innovative method for the purification and sterilization of food items using very high power, short duration pulses of light emitted by inert-gas flash lamps. This technology was approved by the FDA in 1996, and has recently been widely investigated to assess possible commercial applications.
