It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Quick identification and addressing of bugs
Frequent automated testing (based on commits) enables the developers to discover and address bugs earlier, before they grow into larger problems later. This also provides feedback on, for example, system-wide impact of local changes. It ensures constant availability of a current build for testing or release purposes.
