By now it has been quite clearly understood that some of the materials in solid waste can be recovered and recycled for manufacture of either the same or new products. Recyclable materials need to be sorted to separate the glass, plastics, newspaper, cans and so forth. This can be accomplished at materials recovery facility (MRF) if the community has a recycling system in place.
