For 15 years, I would start my seminars showing how to join text. I would often use =PROPER(A2&” “&B2) to join first and last name. The TEXTJOIN function expands on this idea.
History of the Feature
As long as I can remember, Excel had a CONCATENATE function. It was great for joining two cells, but miserable for joining 100 cells.
TEXTJOIN arrived in 2017 along with CONCAT. There was talk that a TEXTSPLIT would arrive shortly thereafter. For unknown reasons, TEXTSPLIT did not arrive until 2022. TEXTSPLIT arrived with TEXTAFTER and TEXTBEFORE.
