SMTP Relay Services

Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) is a standard for e-mail transmissions across the Internet and is required in order for POP and IMAP clients to send e-mail. An SMTP relay service may be required for internal applications—for example, with an online banking server that needs to send e-mails to a customer who forgot his or her password.
