I’ve been surprised for many years that our K–12 schools don’t teach the skills for effective collaboration from a relatively young age.
If I were the president of the universe, and I could somehow have those skills installed into the mental-model repertoire of every human being early in their structured-learning lives, part of my strategy would be to help youth develop some foundational mindsets.
For example, do little kids have any inherent capacity for staying present and connected to conversations where other people are doing all the talking? Can kiddos feel and show empathy?
