2.30 My Path to Facility Management and Facility Management

Our journey through time begins in 1969, at a time when not only the term itself, but, as a result, the performance profile of facility management was also largely unknown.
For 26 years I worked in the field of building measurement and control technology and building automation. That is, at the beginning of my professional career, there was no talk of facility management. It was only in the last few years, when I was managing director of the company in Austria, that I got to know facility management at international management conferences. What I learned on these occasions seemed extremely exciting to me and I began to delve deeper and deeper into facility management.
I took part in worldwide facility management congresses and thus deepened my knowledge. This led me to start my own business in 1996 with the topic of facility management. Soon I was giving lectures and seminars on the subject of facility management myself. Today, 20 years later, there is a broad training landscape for management Model “Facility Management,” which is used in many companies and organizations which is already fully integrated and therefore no longer a foreign word.
Even outside of the persons directly involved in facility management there is an increasing understanding of the question of what facility management actually is. The time of missionary activity is largely over, but only largely. Despite all the positive developments ...
