4.3.2.1.2 Effect of Resin Modification

MAPP was added to modify PP. The hemp ber content was kept at 30%. Figure4.15

shows the effect of MAPP on mechanical properties. The addition of MAPP signi-

cantly improved composite strengths. In tensile strength (Figure4.15a), it sharply

increased from 28 to 32 MPa at 1.2% MAPP addition, and further to 40 MPa at

2.5% addition. Tensile strength stabilized at this level with further MAPP addition.

Signicant improvements were also found in exural strength and impact strength

(Figure 4.15b). NHF showed similar reinforcement ability as SHF in the presence

of MAPP.
