In the next chapter (on layers), you’ll see that you can have stuff extend right off the screen, so you can’t see it, but since it’s part of a layer it’s still there (you can just click-and-drag it back onscreen. If you’re new to layers, this will make a whole lot more sense once you read the layers chapter). To crop away any of that excess stuff that you don’t need anymore, just do this: First press Command-A (PC: Ctrl-A) to select your entire image area (just what you see onscreen right now).
