Soft Reveal
FLASH LACKS THE ABILITY to create masks with soft edges. When you use masks in Flash, you are limited to a hard edge, even if the mask contains a gradient with one color mixed with 0% alpha. Perhaps someday a future version of Flash will support masks with feathered edges. Until then, we need a work-around. So far the only solution I have been able to come up with is not even a mask at all. It’s a simple gradient with at least one color mixed with 0% alpha. In the end, the effect is successful because it is what the viewer doesn’t see that convinces them visually.
