When I went on the O’Reilly platform, I was astonished to find all the books there, plus live events and sandboxes so you could play around with the technology.I’ve been on the O’Reilly platform for more than eight years. I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Chapter 24Don't Be a TOAT
There's a guy I see at the gym called Jim. Yes, that's right, I see Jim at the gym. I'm there to sweat, stretch, and curb the after effects of too many carbs. Jim's there to talk to anyone and everyone. And his main topic of conversation? Himself.
I know a great deal about Jim, particularly his illnesses, but I doubt he knows anything about me. Why? He's never asked.
I wonder if you've ever spent time in conversation with someone like Jim and realized it's not actually a conversation you're having – it's just you listening to them delivering a monologue?
Let's be honest, there are lots of people who are comfortable being the centre of attention and dominating the conversation. And I'm sure you know someone like that, ...
