In extreme cases, a soft morphological operation is simplified into the standard morphological operation. For example, r = 1 or C = B, a soft morphological operation becomes the standard operation with structure element B. If r > |B – C|, a soft morphological operation becomes the standard operation by using the center of structure set C.
