The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) is the recruiting agency for civil services whose members control the commanding heights of the administration. The Indian Civil Service during British times was one of the finest in the world. Despite their prejudices against the ICS, the leaders of free India made it a part of the new political system and gave it the name Indian Administrative Service.
