It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.

En los capítulos anteriores, empezamos con algunos de los tipos de datos básicos de Python: booleanos, enteros, flotantes y cadenas. Si piensas en ellos como átomos, las estructuras de datos de este capítulo son como moléculas. Es decir, combinamos esos tipos básicos de formas más complejas. Las utilizarás todos los días. Gran parte de la programación consiste en cortar y pegar datos en formas específicas, y éstas son tus sierras y pistolas de pegamento.
La mayoría de los lenguajes informáticos pueden representar una secuencia de elementos indexados por su posición entera: primero, segundo, y así sucesivamente hasta el último. Ya has visto las cadenas de Python, que son secuencias de caracteres.
Python tiene otras dos estructuras de secuencia:las tuplas y las listas. Éstas contienen cero o más elementos. A diferencia de las cadenas, los elementos pueden ser de distintos tipos. De hecho, cada elemento puede ser cualquier objeto de Python. Esto te permite crear estructuras tan profundas y complejas como quieras.
¿Por qué Python contiene tanto listas como tuplas? Las tuplas son inmutables; cuando asignas elementos (sólo una vez) a una tupla, éstos se incorporan al pastel y no pueden cambiarse. Las listas son mutables, lo que significa ...
