Ktutil
The ktutil program is a small utility program that allows administrators to manipulate keytab files. Ktutil is the recommended way to append keytabs to one another and delete entries from existing keytabs. The ktutil program requires no arguments, but will require enough privileges to read and write the appropriate keytabs. Typically, this means that you must run ktutil as root.
The Heimdal ktutil program operates differently from the MIT
ktutil program. Heimdal ktutil is entirely command-line driven, and
not interactive like MIT ktutil. The command-line option that is most
commonly used is the --keytab or
-k option, which specifies what
keytab that the current command should operate on. By default, the
ktutil command operates on the
system keytab. It is located in
/etc/krb5.keytab.
