Being able to validate user input is an important and sometimes advanced skill. You may know what your records take as input, but generally users will not.
There’s an old saying in the computer industry that goes something like this: ‘Garbage in garbage out. . . who cares, it’s too late then’. This means that if you do not test for garbage data coming in through your scripts you are going to output garbage information.
