Your first major decision in Minecraft is to pick a gaming platform. Choosing the platform can be tough: You have to decide how much of the game you want to play and how much you’re willing to pay.
In this book, we primarily discuss the platform Minecraft PC/Mac/Linux (or Minecraft PC or just PC Edition). We also show you what you need in order to play all other versions — notably, the PE (Pocket Edition) version for the iPhone, iPad, and Kindle. The Minecraft platforms listed here will likely expand in the next couple of years, including, we hope, a Nintendo Wii version:
