Chapter 12. Working with Shapes and Masks
Motion includes tools for creating simple and freeform shapes. Because shapes are another type of object, they can accept effects such as filters and behaviors. The same type of tools that create shapes can also be used to create masks. As opposed to a shape, which is a standalone entity, a mask is applied to an object to create transparency.
When drawing shapes or masks, you use pen tools to create Bezier splines or BSplines, which are lines connected by vertices called control points. These splines control the way the shape is created.
