For example, in Windows XP, to assign IP addresses to hosts,
perform the following steps:
◾ Open the control panel and select “Network Connection.”
◾ Double-click on the “Local Area Network connection” icon.
◾ Choose “Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)” and click on the
“Properties” button.
◾ Choose “Use the following IP address” option and fill in
the entries (see the following screenshot).
◾ Then click “OK.”
◾ To verify the assigned static IP address, type the following
command in the cmd window:
C:\>ipconfig/all
