9.2.2 Description
We present this exercise using a practical scenario to enrich
learning. The head office of a bank is located in Dubai City,
and there is a requirement to establish a secure communica-
tion link to a branch office located in Al-Ain, a city that is
about 160 kilometers from Dubai. The approach adopted to
establish this requirement is to create a private connection
between the two sites using VPN technology.
Each site (head office and branch) has a LAN (Local Area
Network) that connects computer hosts using switches within
a limited geographic area. For the sake of simplicity, each LAN
is represented by one host figure, as shown in the next figure.
