So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Finding domain master browsers
The domain master browser is located on the domain primary domain controller and we can use the Nmap Scripting Engine to send a broadcast request to locate the master browsers and domains on the network:
$ nmap -sn --script broadcast-netbios-master-browser | broadcast-netbios-master-browser: | ip server domain |_192.168.1.100 WIN2008-PDC TEST
