10.5. Applications in Biomechanics of Fluids
Biomechanics of body fluids is the study of the human body liquids (e.g., body water, blood, synovial fluid) or gases (e.g., respiratory gases). FOSs are intrinsically free of hydrostatic artifacts and flushing, making them particularly attractive for pressure measurements of body fluids. In a paper from the authors, their application for the measurement of intravascular, intracardiac, intramuscular, intraarticular, and intracranial pressures has been extensively reviewed [6].
