The Flashback Query feature takes advantage of rollback segments to give you the capability of running a query that will return results as they existed at a prior point in time.
With Oracle9i, you can avoid the need to explicitly manage rollback segments. You simply designate an UNDO tablespace, and the server takes care of the rest of the details.
Although the Oracle Internet Directory (OID) was included with the Oracle8i release, this chapter has been updated to describe the OID networking choice with Oracle9i.
