renames(source,dest)
Like rename, except that
renames attempts to create all intermediate
directories needed for dest. After the
renaming, renames tries to remove empty
directories from path source using
removedirs. It does not propagate any resulting
exception, since it’s not an error if the starting
directory of source does not become empty
after the renaming.
