It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
How it works...
This package uses the expectation-maximization (EM) algorithm, which is covered in a lot of detail in the package documentation. As explained in the previous recipe, the EM algorithm works by alternating between taking expectation and maximization operators. A good technical explanation of the EM algorithm, and HMM can be found on https://cs.nyu.edu/~mohri/asr12/lecture_8.pdf.
